Volleyball PEI seeks coaches for it's 2021 Canada Summer Games teams in Indoor & Beach Volleyball!

Volleyball PEI is Seeking 2021 Canada Games Coaches
 
Volleyball PEI is currently looking to fill the following coach & manager position(s):
 
Indoor Female: 2 coaches & 1 manager              (Athletes: Age 18U- born Jan. 1, 2003 or later)
Indoor Male: 2 coaches & 1 manager                 (Athletes: Age 18U- born Jan. 1, 2003 or later)
Beach Female: 1 coach                                     (Athletes: Age 20U- born Jan. 1, 2001 or later)
Beach Male: 1 coach                                        (Athletes: Age 20U- born Jan. 1, 2001 or later)
 
Please note:   Prince Edward Island is part of the Small Jurisdiction Strategy for the 2021 Canada Games and as such, we are eligible to have up to 4 "overage" athletes on each of our teams for the 2021 Canada Games.   These "overage" athletes can be up to 2 years older than the official age groups listed below.   Those born in 1999 and later are eligible for Beach Volleyball and those born in 2001 and later are eligible for Indoor Volleyball.  These "overage' athletes will tryout for the team(s) at the same time as all other athletes, however up to a maximum of 4 athletes per indoor team/2 athletes per beach team can, but not necessarily will, be selected.  
 
Job Outline & Expectations:
 
  1. Applicants for Coaching positions should be Advanced Development Certified (theory, technical, practical) and be prepared to work towards completing their Competition Development Certification prior to the 2021 Canada Games.  Coaches that have less than Advanced Development Certified may be considered depending on their interest and ability to achieve the full certification requirements by 2021.
  2. Applicants must be committed to creating a healthy performance based provincial team program.
  3. Applicants must be willing to commit to full participation in all practices, matches and tournaments, including try out dates/camps, Regional and National tournaments.   The teams will be expected to participate in the Red Rock High Performance Club in the club season followed by preparation and competition in the Canada Cup Tournament in July each year
  4. Applicants must be prepared to plan daily practices, with a yearly plan outlined.
  5. Applicants must be willing and capable of communicating on a regular basis with athletes, parents, and Volleyball PEI.
  6. Applicants must be willing to participate in post-season evaluations of athletes, coaches and provincial team environment.

- May 2020 Club Nationals in Edmonton, AB
- May 2020Evaluation of Club season
- June-July 2020 Tryouts for 2020 Canada Cup indoor teams.On and Off-court Training
- July 2020 17U/18U teams compete in Canada Cup
- August 2020Evaluation of training/competition at Canada Cup
- Sept-Nov. 2020ID of Athletes & Continue working on Coach Certification Requirements
- December 2020 Tryouts for Red Rock Indoor Club teams. Final selection for 2021 CG team.
- Jan-May 2021On and Off-court Training & Regional Competitions

Beach Volleyball Timelines:

- December 2019 Meet with prospective athletes/parents to discuss winter training plan.
Timelines for final athlete selection to be determined by coaches and VPEI in winter of 2020.
- Jan-May 2020 On and Off-court Training & Competitions at location TBD (either ON or south)
- June-July 2020 Canada Cup Beach Trial & Canada Cup Beach Tournament (1-2 teams/gender will be selected to attend and represent PEI)
- May-August 2020 On and Off-court Training & Competition in Regional & National events
- August 2020Canada Games Trials for eligible teams.
- September 2020Evaluation of training/competition.Off-court Training for athletes.
