2024 Team PEI Beach Program Information


• PEI GREEN

o The GREEN program is focused on the development of beach performance. The selected athletes will participate in weekly training as well as regional and national competition. The focus will be on introducing athletes to the on and off court skills needed to perform at a national level.

§ Athlete Eligibility: athletes born 2003-2006

§ Athlete Numbers:
• 6-8 female athletes in 1 training group, 3-4 competition teams
• 6-8 male athletes in 1 training group, 3-4 competition teams

• TRAINING & COMPETITION SCHEDULE:
 Training:  2-3x week at PEI beach volleyball courts; Competition:  provincial & regional Beach Volleyball Events (TBD); potentially Volleyball Canada Beach Nationals – August 16-18, Toronto ON  (TBD).

 
 

• PEI BLACK & WHITE
 

o The BLACK program is focused on the development of athletes who are beginning their beach pathway journey. The selected athletes will participate in weekly training and compete at selected events.  The focus will be on introducing athletes to the on and off court skills needed to perform at a regional level

§ Eligibility: 2007-2010

§ Athlete Numbers:
• 6-10 female athletes in 1 training group, 3-5 competition teams
• 6-10 male athletes in 1 training group, 3-5 competition teams

• TRAINING & COMPETITION SCHEDULE:
Training:  1-2x week at PEI beach volleyball courts; Competition:  participating in provincial Beach Volleyball Events – includes Weekly leagues and various tournaments (TBD) and possibly regional events.

 
 

• COST:
 

o Team PEI Selection Process - Cost is $50.00 and includes both the Selection Beach Tournament observation and on-sand training sessions.

o Team PEI Beach Training/Competition - 

§ PEI GREEN Cost TBD - but will include such things as weekly training, coach honorariums, tourney entry fees. Various cost options for PEI GREEN will be discussed with Athletes on Zoom Call.

§ PEI BLACK Cost will be approximately $250-$400 per player and will include weekly training, weekly league play, coach honorariums and registration in PEI beach Volleyball tournaments.

2024 Team PEI Beach Provincial Team
Athlete Identification & Selection Process:

 

The information below is for male and female athletes who are interested in being considered for our 2024 Beach Volleyball Provincial Team Programs:  Team PEI GREEN (born in 2004-2006) & Team PEI BLACK & WHITE (born in 2007-2011).
 
Step 1 – Expression of Interest (EOI):
All interested/eligible athletes must complete the EOI form below by April 12^th, 2024.
Registration for the Selection Event (steps 4 & 5 below) must be completed by May 21^st, 2024.   

Athlete Expression of Interest (EOI) - Volleyball PEI 2024 Beach Volleyball Provincial Team (google.com) 

Step 2 – Virtual Meeting with all EOI athletes:
A virtual meeting will be held on the Zoom Platform on Wednesday, April 17^th, 2024 at 7pm with all EOI athletes.  This meeting will be led by Volleyball PEI and will be attended by all EOI athletes/parents. The summer Plan for TEAM GREEN and TEAM BLACK & WHITE will be outlined

Step 3 – Registration:
Interested athletes who complete the EOI and attend the Virtual meeting will be register online for the Athlete Selection Process (Steps 4 and 5) by April 12^th, 2024.   

Registration for the Athlete Selection Process will close at the end of day Sunday May 26, 2024.

The athlete cost for Steps 4 and 5 is $50

Step 4 – Beach Tournament Play:
EOI athletes must play in the June Selection Tournament on June 14-16 at the Beach Courts at the Terry Fox Complex in Cornwall with a partner of their choice.

EOI athletes will be observed by Team PEI coaches and support staff.

Step 5 – Athlete Training Session (2-3 on-sand sessions):
Following the Beach Tournament, all EOI Athletes will attend 2-3 on-sand training sessions (in late June) with beach coaches and evaluators at the Beach Courts at the Terry Fox Complex in Cornwall. 

Specific # of sessions, days and times will be confirmed with EOI athletes in late May

Final Team PEI Beach Rosters will be selected following Step 5. 
All Selection Camp participants will be notified with their Athlete Selection Camp outcome.
