Updated Match Protocols due to Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19)
Position as of March 12, 2020
All Volleyball PEI events, programs, and tournaments will proceed as scheduled.
AT PRESENT, THE RISK TO PRINCE EDWARD ISLANDERS FROM THE NOVEL COVID-19 (CORONAVIRUS) HAS BEEN CATEGORIZED AS LOW BY PEI PUBLIC HEALTH OFFICIALS.
To reduce the risk to our members, we are updating our match protocol.
Updated match protocol:
Effective immediately, Volleyball PEI will institute a “no contact” policy during Volleyball PEI events including Spring League Tournaments. Pre- and post-match protocols will be temporarily amended with the following:
• At the beginning of the match, teams will NOT meet at the net to wish each other good luck and shake hands
• At the end of the match, teams will NOT meet at the net to shake hands with the opposing team. From their respective end line, teams will face each other and applaud.
• At the conclusion of the match, teams will NOT shake hands with the officials. When teams are at the end line, they should turn to face the officials and applaud.
• All participants should wash their hands prior to and at the completion of each match.
• Tournament host will regularly clean and rotate game balls.
